Dermal Fillers

Facial fillers, more commonly known as dermal fillers are an effective, non-surgical treatment to achieve volume, and are often used to compliment other cosmetic procedures.

Dermal fillers are a naturally occurring hyaluronic acid which works to

  • Restore volume (cheek augmentation)
  • Smooth deeper lines (nose-to-mouth, mouth-to-chin, smoker’s lines)
  • Define/ enhance lips
  • Treat deep scarring (acne scars)

Here at King’s Skin Clinic, we use Juvéderm®, a dermal filler approved by the FDA. The contents are non-animal in composition. It is mainly a synthetic material with an addition local anaesthetic component to provide comfort during treatment.

What are the key benefits of dermal fillers?

Non-surgical approach for youthful contours:-

  • Minimal down time
  • Incremental rejuvenation
  • Subtle natural appearance

How is it carried out?

A topical anaesthetic cream is applied for approximately 20 minutes prior to having the treatment which numbs the area to reduce any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

When can I notice the results?

The day of your procedure.

How many treatments will I need?

Dermal fillers are naturally broken down by the body and therefore reapplication of treatment should be considered within 9 to 12 months.

Are the any side effects?

In rare circumstances, individuals with hypersensitivity towards lidocaine or hyaluronic acid should not use Juvéderm®.
Effects that have been experienced include swelling, pain, discolouration and tenderness of the treated areas and transient redness. However recovery is quick and usually takes 1-2 days for skin injection or within 1 week for lip area.
