How does Microdermabrasion treatment work?
Microdermabrasion (also referred to as microderm) is a procedure in which stratum corneurm is removed (outermost layer of dead skin and debris). This is achieved by directing streams of tiny (“mirco”) aluminium oxide crystals through a hand piece placed again the skin. These crystals gently exfoliate the skin, and the microdermabrasion system suction then removes the skin debris and remaining crystals.
Who can have Microdermabrasion?
Everyone and all skin types. It is a very safe procedure.
The treatment is effective for achieving a ‘refreshed look’, or as part of an on-going skin maintenance programme.
How long does a session last?
A typical microdermabrasion treatment lasts between 30-45 minutes.
What results can I expect following treatment?
After one microdermabrasion session, you will notice improvement of your skin’s colour, tone and overall health making you feel and look more refreshed.
For the ladies, the smoothness of the skin will allow for better application of your make-up giving you that desired ‘glow’.
Although after one session improvements can be noticed, several microdermabrasion sessions at intervals of two to three weeks can further enhance your skin complexion and complement other skin treatments.
Is it painful?
Not at all. It is a non-invasive procedure which gently exfoliates the skin. In some instances, microdermabrasion may cause a mild tingling sensation which is usually only very temporary.
Are there any side-effects?
With microdermabrasion we are gently exfoliating the top layer of dead skin. Therefore, immediately following treatment there will be a slightly increased risk of skin sensitivity and sunburn. This can easily be prevented by using standard sun protection products or moisturizers which incorporate sun protection.
