What causes the thread veins?
What actually causes these troublesome thread veins is not known. However, it is thought that standing for a prolonged period of time, temperature changes, hormonal changes, excess consumption of alcohol and smoking may all lead to the formation of thread veins.
How does laser work?
The laser beam is converted to heat when the laser is absorbed by blood in the veins. This causes the vein walls to be destroyed. Following the treatment, the body’s immune system uses the other healthy veins to treat the area by clearing away the dead tissue.
Is laser suitable for everyone?
The medical grade laser used at Kings Skin clinic is suitable for all skin types. However, it is most effective for light skin tones with facial thread veins, spider naevi and purple/ red veins.
Is it painful?
Utilising the latest laser skin treatment technology, most clients can tolerate the Fotona laser with minimal discomfort. Anaesthetic is not required.

Side effects are rare. Some clients may experience a slight reddening or local swelling at the treatment site, which resolves within hours. Other rare side effects include blistering, bruising or pigmentation of the skin.
